Alte Algarve Spring Fountains

The river running through the Fountains, fontes or springs, at Alte in the Algarve. Alte is a beautiful village situated north of Albufeira. It is a typical, Algarve village of whitewashed houses with lattice work, handcrafted chimneys and narrow, cobbled streets. The main attraction is the natural springs at the eastern side of the village. Here you will find lots of wild life and some great photo opportunities. There are loads of small cafes and bars, Alte is a great place to pass some quality time whilst away on holiday.

Vilamoura Falesia Beach bridge

View across the walk bridge leading to Vilamoura Falesia Beach bridge

The bridge leads from the car park on the Vilamoura side of Falesia beach to the Falesia beach itself. It is only a short walk or bike ride and well worth the visit. The beach on this side is quieter than the Vilamoura side and stretches all the way to Olhos de Agua near Albufeira a little further along the coast. If the tide is out it is possible to walk all the way to Albufeira, however when the tide is in it is not possible to pass on the beach. There is a walkway along the cliff tops which gives a great view of the beach below.

Algarve Railway line

View down the railway line at Vale Judeu near Vilamoura in the Algarve. The railway stretches from Vila real  de Santo Antonio on the eastern border of Portugal and winds its way all the way to the northern border of Portugal and Valença. It is possible to take the train into Spain in various locations in central and northern Portugal, however at the Vila Real terminal you need to take the ferry across the river Guardia to Ayamonte in Spain to continue your journey.
